This is Unwed Sailor's first full-length album. "The Faithful Anchor" was released on Lovesick Records. The band is currently on tour in Europe with Brandtson.
Often with music I tend to focus on the lyrics. Looking for melody and harmony in a song that I can sing to is something that often catches my attention. But Unwed Sailor seems to defy that, they offer only instruments, yet their music draws me in. Maybe it's the constant changes throughout the songs, or the repetitive grooves of other parts of their songs, I'm not really sure. But the one thing I'm definitely sure of is that I love this album. It's the perfect CD to just put on, sit back and take in the music. The music, despite the presence of vocals is some of the most melodic music I have heard recently, almost even poppy.
I tend to enjoy the more upbeat songs a little bit more on this release, but honestly even the more mellow/slower songs still have something to them that I enjoy. If enough people listen to this album it has the potential to influence quite a number of musicians out there. Don't be surprised if you start to hear more and more about this band that writes beautiful instrumental indie rock tunes.
