(1996)
Reviewed by David Luck
A classic, filled with wonderfully performed favorites by talented artists, in tribute to one of God's most humble servants. For over fifty years Billy Graham has reached millions with the message of new life in Jesus Christ, and the call to come forward has always been enhanced by the use of these classic hymns. For anyone with fond memories of a Billy Graham Crusade, this recording will help to keep those memories alive and vibrant.
The Crusade Of A Lifetime - A Musical Tribute To Billy Graham includes "Just As I Am," "How Great Thou Art," "I Surrender All," and "To God Be The Glory." These pieces are performed by the Ralph Carmichael Orchestra and the Crusade Choir. Steve Anderson (a guest soloist at the Sacramento, California, Crusade) is joined by the Crusade Ensemble for a great rendition of "Amazing Grace." Kurt Kaiser (songwriter, arranger and producer) leads the orchestra in an outstanding performance of "Wherever He Leads I'll Go." And with that rich, deep, full voice that so readily identifies him, George Beverly Shea brings us the songs for which he is known best, "I'd Rather Have Jesus" and "The Love Of God."
Filled with a variety of vocal styles and great instrumentation, this project is sure to be enjoyed by many. The Crusade Of A Lifetime - A Musical Tribute To Billy Graham is a beautifully mastered compilation of songs that praise and worship the Lord-which is the only tribute Billy Graham has ever been part of.
