How good can a soundtrack be for a movie about someone trying to sabotage a Miss America Pageant? Well, it could be a bit worse, but then again, it could be a lot better. The teen friendly film features a song list of similar appeal including some up and coming pop artists like Bosson, P.Y.T. and the A Teens.
Bosson contributes his hit "One in a Million," which has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award (Best Original Song). P.Y.T. lends their two cents on "Anywhere U.S.A.," while the A Teens bring forth a sloppy cover of ABBA's 70s gem "Dancing Queen." Additional covers come from the Latin tinged Los Lobos, who interpret the soulful Wilson Pickett's "Mustang Sally." In addition, electronica/ dance king BT revamps the Tom Jones lounge tune "She's a Lady" into a club smash. Some tracks that could have been left off the list include a ridiculous Berman Brothers remix of William Shatner singing "Miss America" and the obnoxious Salt-N-Pepa on "None of Your Business." Despite the lack of solid material, the soundtrack seems to complement an equally weak story line for the film.
