Pet Projects provides a look at the musical groups put forth by Jesus People, USA (JPUSA). There are several interview segments with the spokespersons of REZ, The Crossing, Cauzin' efekt, Crashdog, and Glenn Kaiser. While talking about their desire for music and ministry, they also discuss real life issues--struggles and putting confidence in God, marriage, struggle against unfair establishment, life in the ghetto, and praise and worship. It's a well rounded view of the people behind the musical ministry of JPUSA. The interview segments seem candid, unrehearsed, and down-to-earth.
Of course, there are videos as well. You get Glenn Kaiser's "Ain't Much Difference" from Spontaneous Combustion, Kaiser's "Most of All" from All My Days: Songs of Worship and Witness, "Ecstasy" from The Crossing, REZ's "Land of Stolen Breath," "Voice of Defiance" by Crashdog, and Cauzin' efekt's "Break Out Da Frame." Just as the musical statements of the groups span the range from Celtic folk to punk to rap, the visual presentations run the gamut as well.
If you are a fan of any of the JPUSA artists, or are interested in the music that is part of the organization's ministry, this is something that you will probably want to see.
