The Wild Rag! The self-proclaimed newsletter for the international underground, has put out their first compilation. It's 17 tracks of various bands Richard C. has featured in his mag-or rag. Over all a pretty pro recording. The disc starts with The End "Pure Satanic Death" which is more thrashy with angry, but not growling, vocals and then...Detestation "Decay" is straight up fast death but has rhythms without a real hook; Ad Nauseum "Live This", death, but with a name like that ya, you can expect repetition; Sickness "Putrid Incest" another appropriate name & title. Pure terrifying sick speed; Habitual "Wake Up" fast grind core with a more demo quality; D.E.M. "My Rust" good hooks & powerful thrash singing; Horror of Horrors "Tragic", it's not horrible, but it reminds me of the label, J.L.America's pure speed bands; Days of Lamenting "Passing Into The Silence" is one of the more interesting bands here. It's a 2 man doom project with one guy on vocals the other on keys, guitars & programming the guitar solos sound a bit out of tune but the song writings cool; Friday Dies "Protect Your Temple" kinda thrashy; Sarcophgy "Grisley Homicidal Butchery" is just good old fashioned death grind with gutteral vocals bearing Crimson Thorn's Luke Remo!; Sadistic Torment "Intense Decay" would sound real intense with better production and a snare to replace the obnoxious piece of wood; Seraph "The Innocent Of Darkness" features Scott Laird, violinist of Believer fame; Michael Knight "Noir Lamour" this guitarist has found his niche without a vocalist, this reminds me a bit of Chris Poland's debut; Judecca "Forensic Pathology", death/trash big deep vocals; Rise "Revenge Flowing Through" right up there with Monstrosity, Cancer; Infamy "Count The Dead" like a tornado, intense, terrifying, fast & gutteral.
