Mixing colors off a twisted palette, the Yum Yum Children label debut, Used To Would've, will split listeners right down the middle: some will love the quirky, surf-wave rock, the reedy lead vocals, and the wacky sensibilities that bring the record thisclose to novelty record status; others will hate the record for the same reasons. The highlight, though is the haunting and brilliant "Life Without Jesus," which starts off dangerously placidly, before building to the inevitable conclusion. Used to Would've shows Yum Yum Children to have one of the most unique voices in Christian rock--if you can stand it, you'll love it.
