    ApologetiX is a Pittsburgh-area Christian parody band formed in the early 1990s; its first official concert took place in Irwin, Pennsylvania, on March 27, 1992. J. Jackson writes the lyrics and sings lead, recasting familiar rock and pop songs as Bible narratives, evangelical instruction, or arguments for Christian belief. The method was already unusually broad on the 1997 debut Ticked, which copied then-current alternative hits with biblical words, though an early review noted weak production and another found the imitations musically convincing. Jesus Christ Morningstar organized 18 such reworkings into a chronological account of Christ's life. By Grace Period, the band was matching originals more closely across several decades and genres, while still producing deliberately silly songs. Its records remained caught between comedy, evangelism, and novelty.

    Karl Messner left the group in 2007 after serving as guitarist and producer from its early years, and Tom Milnes and Tom Tincha later took over the lead-guitar roles. ApologetiX continued releasing music and performing, but in 2014 it began reducing its touring schedule to concentrate on recordings. The band played its first concert since 2017 on September 1, 2024, at Immortal Fest in Versailles, Ohio. Since 2014, it has followed a much faster release pattern, issuing a new single about every two weeks and a new CD about every three months. ApologetiX remains active, with Jackson still leading the project; its return to live performance took place in 2024.
