    Bryan Duncan is an American contemporary Christian singer and songwriter whose career began in the early 1970s with Sweet Comfort Band, a Riverside, California group built around rhythm-driven rock with jazz and soul in it. The band later moved toward a more conventional radio-rock sound, while Duncan's solo work kept his strong, carefully phrased voice at the center. His 1996 Blue Skies paired adult-contemporary polish with prominent guitar, horns, and musicians connected to the Sweet Comfort sound. The Last Time I Was Here added heavier bass and a stronger R&B pull, including the unusual use of a computer-generated voice reading Scripture. By Joyride, Duncan had returned openly to old-school soul, with gospel color and relaxed jazz touches. His music could be devotional, polished, funky, or quietly strange without losing its vocal identity.

    Sweet Comfort Band broke up in 1984 after a farewell tour, and Duncan moved into a long solo career that brought him from Light and Myrrh to Diadem Records. The original group reunited for selected performances in 2001, then began working toward new material after bassist Kevin Thomson died in 2010; The Waiting Is Over appeared in 2013. Duncan formed the NehoSoul Band in 2003 with bassist and musical director Ricky B. Rogers, and the group became the setting for a renewed emphasis on live R&B. In 2005, Music City Live became the first release on Duncan's Red Road Records, followed by A NehoSoul Christmas later the same year. NehoSoul continued with Still Dancin' in 2008, while Duncan later released Shine in 2019 and began the Nutshell Sermons podcast in 2022.
