Hailed as a heavy band going after the "Nirvana vibe" (Oh yes, another Nirvana comparison. I bet we're gonna see a lot of new bands go after this grunge style of Metalized Hardcore.), I knew this was going to be an interesting project--especially when I heard that The Crucified's Greg Minier was the chief instigator. Sure enough, a swirling, low-end grunge sound pervaded these deep-in-groove tunes. Tunes like "Revolutionary" and "Six Feet Under" personify this style to a "T." It's fun to hear the influences of the late 60's atmospheric psychedelic music hybrid with the brash energy of Punk. "Intermittent You" screams for attention with urgent and desperate playing and singing. Talk about energy! This song reeks with it. This tune and "Monkey On My Back" are the two dominant cuts, in this reviewer's opinion. "Monkey..." features a very cool rhythm for the verse and bridge sections, along with a heavy thumpin' bass. Lyrically, this band has some good, honest things to say. There's a little bit of sentiment about death in "Six Feet Under" and "Crutch" takes a label that skeptics like to use as a put-down and turns it around to be a testimony: "You're my crutch, and I'm Your slave." The title track reinforces the fact that God gives meaning to our lives, no matter what the circumstances to the sound of a Metallica-ish ballad, and an instrumental called "Relation" seems to carry this sentiment up to the end of the album. Most fans of new music will dig this album dedicated to Hay-Zoose Christos.
