This left field Sparrow project has some guilty house pleasures, and even some stuff with party cred. The gist of the album is that Grant Cunningham and Chris York tracked down a bunch of underground remix wizards and had them ply their trade on Avalon (that CCM pop group) songs. Random. Also quite ambitious, and shockingly well executed on tracks like the Euro Stack Mix of "The Best Thing," the acidic Roswell mix of "Wonder Why," the DJ Tiesto mix of "Can't Live a Day," and the Jeff Savage mix of "Undeniably You" (the latter two sound like recent Cher numbers). The presence of a Mint Royale Mix, on "Speed of Light," was the best surprise. Some songs are beyond saving, but, you know.
