If you watch television, you have probably seen the Ipod Shuffle commercial featuring the dreadlock flailing shadow, dancing in front of brightly colored backdrops. One of the first songs they showcased (maybe it was the first I don't remember) was the hop poppin' Jerk It Out. However like oh so many other pop rock sensations, its thrill was short-lived, traveling quickly from my favorite playlist to a somewhere under my car seat, lonely and neglected. If this has been your only exposure to the Caesars you may be wondering what the rest of their album sounds like. Well I would be happy to tell you.
Paper tigers is a fun summer listen. Its hand-clapping tambourine music, that falls light and easy on the ears and soul. It's the kind of music that sounds best at high volume with the windows open in your car, on the way to the beach. While the lyrics are far from profound you will nevertheless find yourself singing along once you have learned the words. They even threw in some "Na-Na Nas". Who doesn't dig "Na-Na-Na's"? The reverberating harmonica keyboards supply the unique accompaniment that sets them apart from other garage bands in the game. And I'll be a monkey's uncle if I didn't hear someone tinkering with a xylophone somewhere in there.
Amongst the "Na Na Na's" and free-spirited cavorting of the Caesars you will find yourself...enjoying yourself. Simplicity never felt so good.
