Yes, yes, ok, ok. Blah, blah, blah. This is not really original, but it is good! So why whine over not being original? If it is good, it should not matter. Yes, emotic, screamo, hard edged emo is now "huge," but there really is no reason to dismiss a good band! No, I am not exactly into screamo slash the emotic hard edged musical stylings too much. Yet, ever since this band used to have the name Bailey Drive I have liked their passion to create good music. While the music is emotic it is aggressively thrown down. The guitars build a landscape of smooth, lush, and aggressive sound to layer upon the singing and the drums. The screams break up the sappiness quite well. Normally I would not get into emotic music, but Chasing Victory (fka Bailey Drive) has always been a band that I would be eager to listen to. A Not So Tragic Cover Up is just a CD to suffice until a full-length comes out. The lyrics cry out a need for Christ, boldly so, a need to "Step into the Light", love, and an admittance that we keep on doing things that are needless to do. Yes, this CD is not "original", but it is good, and that is all that should matter.

The first song on this album sounded like a hybrid Lifetime (pre Jade Tree days) song, all the way down to the vocals but then the whole album changed. They are labeled as a band that blends emotional and hardcore music. There is nothing hardcore about this album. Just because someone screams on a few parts of an album with some double bass action in…
The Phantom Tollbooth 2004Reviewed by Zach DelphAfter a genre has seen its heyday with the mainstream listener, it's always sad to see a group arrive after the fad has almost passed. While groups like Thursday and Taking Back Sunday have established a fairly loyal fan base and continue to expand their style, new "clones" seem to pop up everywhere in attempts to woo listeners to their albums. Here is where Chasing Victory's debut EP, A Not So…Similar sounding releases
