I have always been amazed that there hasn't been a Christian band that has created a sound that compares with Led Zeppelin. Now, there finally does. Curious Fools isn't simply a Zeppelin rip-off--it is a display of music that has been influenced by the band.
Lead vocalist Stephen Murray helps the sound the most, with expressive vocals that abound with similarity to Robert Plant. His vocal forcefulness and the indirect lyrics have drawn comparisons to U2. While there is a bit of angst to the project, I think those comparisons are a little off the mark.
I have struggled to gain anything from the lyrics, and I must admit defeat--only obtaining several references to relationships and death. Suffice it to say, they aren't something you will understand on the first listen. Hopefully you can wade through the imagery and learn what Murray, who is the primary lyricist, is trying to say.
The packaging is very impressive for a new band. There is a sixteen-page, full-color booklet with very progressive layouts. It offers some interesting photos with the lyrics.
Overall, classic rock fans should find it particularly pleasing, especially if you aren't looking for run-of-the-mill lyrics.
