"Hey are you interested in hearing a dark, heavy goth band called Decapitated Sheep?" That's really the only line I had to build some thoughts on what I was about to hear as I popped this CD in my player. This is almost throw back music to the older days of the industrial goth scene when electronics were not a very big part (if at all) in the music. Rather Decapitated Sheep use simple, well placed, low tuned and heavy riffs to craft an extremely dark atmosphere. I played this CD for several people just to watch their reaction when the vocals came in. No one expected female vocals, myself included. Yet at the same time everyone who heard it was quite impressed with her ability to deliver lines and not be overly pretty keeping the entire dark feel held fast into place. The vocals are delivered in a monotone style which within this review makes it sound bad but really the delivery is amazing, and this is from someone who emphatically claims to not like female singers. The drum work also stood out to me quite a bit, created yet never obtrusive and lending itself to each song as necessary. The quality of this demo is remarkable. Good sound production and the mix is near perfect. The band is charging a mere $4.00 for your own copy of these 5 songs and if you are smart you'll send for it. Send to:

Dead Zine 2003Reviewed by NecRoSarXThis demo has been receiving a lot of spins in my CD player. Decapitated Sheep's demo is an excellently-produced disc of goth-influenced metal, kinda like Type O Negative with some eerie female vocals singing with black metal shrieks popping in once in a while when needed. Most of the songs here are guitar-driven, which may turn off some neo-goth purists looking for keyboard-driven material, but…
