Anyone out there have the first Australian metal sampler, called Godspeed? Yes? Well, um, about the fourth or fifth track, there's a band listed as Deracination there. Yes, that one. Did you know they had a full-length demo recorded around 1992? Didn't? Well, don't feel too bad. I don't think many people realized who this band was until the Godspeed compilation came out.
Times of Atrocity is the name of their demo. It is, as you may have guessed, a full-on death metal / grind album, in the vein of Scrolls of the Megilloth-era Mortification. The reason this got a low rating from me is the fact that the production is really bad, almost sounding like the whole thing was miked up to a twenty dollar four-track, the hiss is so bad at times. That aside, this is a fairly well-played, albeit almost cliched, death metal CD. The standout tracks here are "Never Coming Home", "Death By Fire", "Mankind's Search For God" and "Tormented By Darkness". The lyrics, keeping with the tried-and-true death metal topics, deal with the death and destruction of those who reject Christ as Messiah. Happy thoughts, HAPPY THOUGHTS!

"Mankind's Search for God" has an ultra deep headbangin' groove that's as sweet to a thrasher as…Similar sounding releases
