After being confined in Southern California for three years, Dismissed is ready to take off on their ride of music destiny. "Taking the Good With the Bad" is the band's first full length and is out now on Indie Vision Music. They also had a song on Tooth and Nail's "I'm Your Biggest Fan Vol. 2".
Now that all the information is out of the way, let me tell you what I really think. I was really disappointed with this band. The recording was good but this band just really irritated me. Their music style was terribly generic and just boring but that isn't why I was disappointed. They have a tremendous amount of talent. I can hear that and I feel it when I listen to their album and that just really irritates me that a band that talented sounds just like a combined mess of everything else that is just a passing fad.
I really don't want to sound mean but it was just really disappointing. It's like having a friend who is the smartest person you know and who had more potential than you'll ever see and they end up working a dead end 9-5 job. You just want to smack them upside the head and say "hey, you're better than this!". This album isn't totally bad. I think that it has some bright spots but all that is overshadowed by the lack of originality and power that I know they have just by listening to them. Dismissed is a young band with what could be a tremendously bright future.
