Okay, okay, so a million bands have jumped on the alterno-metal bandwagon since the emergence of Nirvana... This genre still leaves tons of room for innovation and quality music. Drinkwater is one such band that does their craft well. This band has tons of funky fun with their sometimes jangly and sometimes powerchord riffs, plus vocalist Phil Urry can sing very well. The band's melodies are hot. Some of the tunes, like "It Can't Go On" and "Be No. 1" sway too far in the melodic pop vein for some heavy music diets, but the band is very credible--which you're first hinted at by the pro tape cover artwork and packaging. They should be signed and marketed now, because they're very happenin'. For ordering info, write: Alan Carr, PO Box 27243, Auckland 4, New Zealand.
