Even though Fell Venus pulls a Prince and calls their album "@," they still crank out some great music. As fellow HM music freak Charles Gates puts it: "The drum loops and sequences stay in the back and the live instruments come up front (real drums 'n' stuff!) This is a guitar groove album, dude!"
This album crosses over the dance and metal and hardcore and, yes, industrial genres and satisfies each of 'em. Tunes like "Nice Guy" reek with passion as Mr Venus screams about being too blind to see it, too black to believe it.
The grooves built in here make you wanna move 'n' mosh 'n' just plain freak. Some of the more contemplative moments, like "Penance," still carry some Henry Rollins-type anger and drama. "Hate Disease" has an unforgettable groove, with trippy confessional BGV's of "I've got it" changing up to the intensity every so often.
This is new and different, but I'll be hornswaggled if it ain't great to listen to! And you'll love playing track #27 over and over again to your cool friends.
