Floyd Ellsworth's first nationally released CD is certainly a powerhouse of music. There are 14 songs, including three written by Ellsworth or Ellsworth and Israel Houghton. This is finger-snapping Gospel music done in arrangements from the ballad-style "Everything" to Ellsworth's "Cried Holy" and the Latino-rhythmic "The Lord Is Here." Literally, something for everyone.
Floyd Ellsworth has a lyrical voice and as such can get the lyrics to his audience, an important feature when your music is praising the Lord. The accompaniments or choral arrangements do not overpower the soloist, so that in "Free Indeed," (an Ellsworth composition co-written with Israel Houghton) the balance is effective, "...who the Son sets free is free indeed." Another standout is Ellsworth's "Cried Holy," which was written after a period of fasting. The arrangement uses effective pauses to emphasize words, "...when he said those words to me, then I cried holy...." This CD is enthusiastic from the first selection to the last and does what the title of the first selection says, "Magnify The Lord."
