Being obscure can be a great thing when it comes to the punk/hardcore...whatever scene. You have a chance to push and break the mold. Sometimes there are moments where you are blown away by a band's ability to rise above the rest and shine. This is not one of those times. You know how you shouldn't mix bleach and ammonia? Well you shouldn't mix hardcore/metalcore and ska. I don't know what to do with this. I have two sounds coming at me that when they are separate they are pretty good. This band could make a pretty decent metalcore band or they could make a pretty decent ska-punk band but when they are mixed it is deadly...to my ears and to their careers. They also try to throw a little of that OH SO LOVEABLE "Thursday" melodic sing along parts and somewhere in there I heard some Meshuggah vocals. I am not kidding. This is a giant mess and they are from my birthplace and neighbor of my current home state...New Jersey.
Boundaries should be crossed and there should be no restrictions within the punk scene but please don't combine the most exploited musical styles in the underground scene of the past 10 years and call it a band.
