blissful, trance-like vocals, guitars, synthesizer & percussion echo & soar throughout the duration of this 4 song ep from the band called Frank Watson, not a solo artist. each song seems to be written around the bass line which is quite strong and dominating. the song structure is intricately scattered throughout each instrument, the bass line plays the role of percussion at times keeping a constant beat. lyrically, FW consists of propelling picturesque poetry. at times it sounds like the vocalist is communicating with the listener by the tone of her voice, almost like questions. the vocals & synthesizers are mesmerizing & dreamlike. although the instrumentation is all over the place, they do conglomerate and become wavelike melodies moving briskly underneath the spoken yet sung vocals of Beth Gruver. the music as a whole follows the dynamic of the lyrics and vocals giving it atmospheric and psychedelic qualities. the obscurity of frank watson is as beautiful and intriguing as a painting itself, a real piece of art! FW will have a full length out in spring with help from matt wignall of havalina rail co.
