Gentle acoustic guitars, and soft keyboards open "The Cry," the first song on this four song tape. Quietly the drums enter, adding to the rich atmosphere of the music. Then the guitars brutally enter, yet along with them come female vocals for a few lines, then the female vocals get paralleled with fierce black metal styled vocals. This is such an awesome effect. To have the beautiful female vocals being sung over top of the harsh black vocals is simply amazing. The song continues in this fashion with the drums stepping up to a thundering double bass onslaught. Then once this song wraps up comes my favorite song.
Getsemani, is a three piece atmospheric doom/unblack band from Italy. This tape shows a lot of potential for some incredible music. The quality of the tape is pretty low, and the insert plainly says that it was home recorded by Roby, the harsh vocalist/keyboardist of the band.
Musically you never know what to expect. This music is soft beautiful and tranquil at one moment then the song becomes fast, and scary. The lyrics are all strong Christian lyrics.
Personally I would have liked for the keyboards to have not been so upfront on this cassette. However looking at their webpage it looks like they are headed in that direction, for their new release "there will be more guitars in comparison with Dreaming to fly" and I think this will give some depth to the band.
For ordering info contact the band via E-Mail and be sure to visit their website that is linked under the Linkage section of Dead.
