Fresno, California's 'scary nu-metal' GRYP is currently independent, and has self-released their best recorded songs to date; in the form of a seven-song EP called Left Behind, which is available on the Web and at GRYP shows. The title track is also their radio release, and there is no doubt that the same DJs who championed a label-affiliated GRYP along the radio chart path will once again be eager to launch their new (indie or not) single on to CHR glory. While doing a 'Rapture' themed song called "Left Behind," in relation to an obvious current evangelical pop culture fad, seems pretty cheezy, the song does rock. So, you know, whatever. Maybe that Lahaye guy and the other dude will put it on a soundtrack for something, or maybe they already have and I wasn't paying attention, which is quite possible, since, well, you know... Anyway, the rest of the EP has wonderfully violent songs with a little less polish, and a lot more edge and fright (especially the standout "Resignation"), and really good vocals (imagine that, a Deftones influenced band that can actually hold a tune).

Sometimes I can almost put my finger on an idea they picked from another band. The…Similar sounding releases
