Ouch. I really wish I hadn't gotten this one. For fans of Eternal Decision and maybe some Tourniquet, this one is probably safe. However, I'm not too fond of either of those bands so you can imagine that I wasn't pleased with this cd. The musicianship is decent and I guess the vocals are good for the style they are playing, but definitely not to my taste. So, not to say that this cd is not good, but I don't like it and I wouldn't suggest it to anybody, but there is one thing you cannot take away from this band. The first track is nothing but an explanation of the gospel followed by the sinner's prayer. Although I think that is lame to a certain extent, you cannot deny that this band is upfront about their beliefs and totally putting the ministry first. That will always get you extra points in my book.

The Phantom Tollbooth 2005Reviewed by Bob FelbergHeaven's Rage morphed into Lucid after this 1993 indy release. The Rage were well schooled on the thrash metal classics -- featuring flashes of Metallica, Megadeth, Tourniquet and Deliverance. Loaded with beefy, dissonant guitars coupled with mosh-inducing crunch! Tons of energy all loaded with speed, hooks, and solos. Lyrics included -- and to the point they are. For example, from the title…
HM Magazine #72Reviewed by Brian Vincent McGovernThis 14-song CD is some straight ahead metal, with the trade-off between the chugga-chugga guitar and a squealing one, with a sometimes distorted vocal sound not unlike an angry Luke Easter (though with not nearly as much variety as Luke). The first track is a salvation message, which many will see as a great thing, but others may consider preaching to be out of place if it comes before the…
The Phantom Tollbooth 1998Reviewed by Josh Spencer"Mmmmmm....BEEFY!" Man, I haven't heard heavy METAL grooves like this in awhile, Heaven's Rage start with a mid-tempo thrash foundation and slam on tons of big 90's power and aggression. The production is very scratchy and organic, but suits the music by providing a rough, textured guitar tone (the same on every track). Most fans of Leaderdogs for the Blind, Jesus Freaks, Erase, Eternal Decision,…
The Phantom Tollbooth 1998Reviewed by Mark J. AylorHeaven's Rage has a lot going for it -- great heavy riffs, some thrash, an overall heavy sound. On the thrashier songs, there's definite Six Feet Deep influence, but for the most part this is standard-fare, hardcore metal that might do well against the likes of Tourniquet or the secular band Skid Row. The big problems here are the flat vocals and the average lyrics. The vocals aren't bad, but the…
