A new band from Missouri, In.Case.Of sent us a professionally produced 4-song demo brimming with potential. They mine a lot of current hip hop rock styles, and risk ending up generic and last-on-the bandwagon, but since the songs are not cohesive yet, and are essentially segmented, it is fairly easy to see what direction they are working towards, and what stuff is going to be filtered out as they gain their focus. Essentially, that is what makes them stand out, because it is quite likely that they will take their strengths (crashing through hard grooves with an abandon, skill, and street-level naivete that dispels the cheese of other areas in songs, like some cliche rap breakdowns and "spoken" -- hint -- word verses) and flesh those into cohesive, dangerous songs, and probably create dynamic hard music that escapes the impending demise of "rap-core."
