JC Roxx
Livin' in the Limelight
Reviewed by Stephen Wagers
Listening to this 3-song demo gives me a feeling that I'm dealing with a young band (both age & musically). JC Roxx tries to come through with a melodic brand of pop rock, but falls a couple of fries short of a "happy meal." Lyrically the songs are simplistic in delivery, such as "Lost & Found": "Was a child of seventeen/ A wasted youth, the devil's dream." Vocally the singer's delivery is very whiny and a little hard to sit through, but then when the guitarist does a couple of riffs, it becomes a little more enjoyable. As I said before, the playing on the demo is premature, but I feel there may be some adolescent ears out there who may enjoy it. For ordering info, write: 5525 Noland Rd, Shawnee KS 66216.
