Variations on a Scream takes a straight rock approach than Variations on a Dream. Some (weak) vocals are used on ...Scream, like in the humorous "God Says I'm Supposed To Marry You", set to the tune of "Born To Run". Several other instrumental tunes are heavy, yet produced with weak sonics (sounds like four or eight tracks). ...Dream is the best side, with its sometimes contemplative picking and melodic numbers.
