Noisy British rockers Kaito flirt with pop on their debut album on Devil In The Woods Records.
The bio that accompanied this CD compared Kaito's debut record to Sonic Youth's Goo album, and I'd say that's a fair comparison in that they share some similar characteristics. Kaito play short pop songs drenched in guitar noises and feedback, which oddly enough add to the catchiness of the songs.
Singer/guitarist Nikki Sound has a unique voice that sometimes sounds like she's speaking a new language due to the slurring of her words. Though they are from England, Kaito has a sound comparable to a slower, poppier version of the Japanese band Melt Banana. I haven't heard anything quite like this in a while, and I'd love to catch their live show.
