Someday..., the second release from Kelli Reisen, offers a variety of contributing songwriters--Joe Beck, Al Denson, Brian White, John Elefante, Tommy Greer, Connie Harrington, and more.
Reisen's style might best be described as what might happen if a typical inspirational singer from the late 70's was re-mixed with more up-to-date music. The title cut "Someday" is a cover of a song done in the early 80's by Truth and others. There is a strong devotional quality to her songs--referring directly to God instead of a generic "you" which can be understood as a human or divine "you."
The song "Only His Tomb" reminds us that Christ's promises aren't empty, only his tomb. The most memorable song on the album "Did The Lilies Cry" talks of the death of Christ.
This music is comparable to the early work of Trace Balin (without the rasp) and Cynthia Clawson (without the nasal twang). Someday... should be enjoyed by anyone who enjoys pop and AC music--young and old alike--and has a real message to give.
