Lament, formerly known as Beheaded from Mexico, offers a much different approach to death metal. This technical band has few dominating rhythms but instead uses a more "harmonized" solo type parts with crushing drums and driving bass. If you love to hear clear, groovin' drums, look no farther, this band has it and a bucket o' chicken. This is not your regular death metal music, it's a much more technical blend of classic guitar work with the before mentioned bass and drum parts. Don't get me wrong, there are crushing death metal guitar parts, such as "From Pain To Hope", but the parts do not last the whole length of the song. This band is very instrument oriented, therefore if you enjoy very technical, and well pieced together music you will love them. The vocals are for all purposes, pure death metal vocals with the exception of some spoken parts.

Some of the music sections are so tight and driving, "The Mystery Of Iniquity", that you will have to literally hold on to your seat. The bad thing about it is that the song loses its power (in my opinion) by reverting back to harmonized guitar sections. I think that if they would have held a guitar out of the harmonized sections, and kept it as a rhythm with the heavy section under the lead, that the piece would not lose its emotions as fast. (Note: this is only my opinion and people should know that I'm no expert, but I want the reader to know how I like my music that way he/she would take my word better if they liked what I like) hey what do I know though, my band isn't even signed, and don't get me wrong this band is unreal. You should get this album just to hear the musicianship and the hardcore preaching that every song exerts. This band has obviously devoted its entire creation to Christ and that is, in my book, a tremendous devotion. Thank you, Marco and crew!!

Critical Mass #2Reviewed by Tom EdmondsonYou're trying to create the perfect Christian Metal band. You begin by combining GROMS with Metanoia and throw in a little Crimson Thorn for good measure. The result: Mexico's Lament (formerly known as Beheaded). But you're not finished. You decide that not only is the music going to be great, but so is the production. You get Jeff Sheetz to produce it. The end product is an incredible blend of…
