For those who might have been a bit disillusioned by the experimental Hammering Process, Conceived In Fire will have Living Sacrifice fans smiling from ear to ear. THIS IS METAL! This is Living Sacrifice! In fact, Conceived may be the heaviest record the band has ever released. This is a bold statement, especially after listening to an album like Inhabit, but after the first twenty seconds of "Imminent War," you know this is going to be good. Whereas Hammering was littered with odd time-signatures, Conceived has more in common with Reborn in its straightforward nature. Each song is percussion-heavy, in the vein of Sepultura. At times, you could swear you were listening to the self-titled debut, with its equal parts Slayer and Cannibal Corpse. And somehow, amidst all the heaviness, "Into Again," the album's only instrumental, slows the pace for a few minutes before pummeling the listener with "Separation." This is a true return to form for LS.
