As with anything in life, you, of course, want to improve. Living Sacrifice, since their debut album, has changed vocally and has added more velocity to what was already thought of as lightning speed. The four boys from Arkansas don't stop, but only keep improving. Inhabit shows musical maturity in that these guys can get slow 'n' heavy as a ton of bricks; but, at the same time, turn that around and belt out speeds faster than a bullet train. Mountain Dew and Jolt are truly the beverages of choice here!
Enough of the gab. Let's get to the good stuff. If I had not seen Living Sacrifice play before, I would have thought this first song, "In The Shadow," was done with a drum machine (because) it is so rad to the bone.
"Not Beneath" has some cool different parts to it. This is going back to that slow and heavy as a brick but fast as a bullet train analogy. It clocks in at six and a half minutes, taking the listener through a couple different mood swings. The haunting BGV's at the end of the first chorus are pretty wild, as is the meandering guitar solos in the bridge.
"Unseen" is a song that is unmatched. Guitars and drums couldn't be any cooler sounding. The guitar tones range from almost a classic metal bite to that awesome karrunch! you love to hear. You're not even done reading this review yet and I'm telling you to go out right now and buy this album. You will not be let down.
This album is a definite winner in all aspects. Musically, lyrically, and on a personal level, these guys know how to minister in a heavy way. Catch them this summer if you can.
On a closing note, Mom and Dad, just in case you get in the crossfire of listening to this awesome band, read their lyrics and review the Scriptures on the inside of the cover. The Lord has given these four guys a great talent. Let's not let our pride and self-righteousness belittle our kids. Nowadays they need positive influences like Living Sacrifice.
