This CD, entitled Things To Come, Things I've Done, is a demo collection [with perfect sonics!] that speaks for itself. The first song, "Heaven Sent," is by Cush -- a band / project Mike did with the rhythm section from the former members of The Prayer Chain. As might be expected, we're treated to some chiming and atmospheric sounds that are carried along beautifully and subtly. The next four songs are from the project he started with Dennis (R.I.P.) from Social Distortion -- a little band called Strung Gurus. It's sad to hear about Dennis' sudden death as we go to press. There's no telling whether this music will continue at this time. These four tunes have a chirpy upbeat and postpunk nature that fits closely what Mike's done by himself and with LSU in recent times. We're talkin' big hooks, Mike's great voice, and that left-of-center rhythmic approach that's easy to love. We get some songs from Aunt Betty's Ford (the original name before a threat from FMC), including the original demo with "Rocket & A Bomb," "Kitty," and "Kill Me." Very nice.
