Embarking on a solo journey, Michelangelo (of Michelangelo and The Difference) showcases his strengths on this new five song EP. A memorable, and warm voice with a slight vibrato carries the project over the acoustic guitars, and occasional harmonicas. Themes of despair, searching and ultimate hope abound on this project in poetic, but down-to-earth lyrics.
"Precious Rose" bears slight traces of U2 or even Extreme echo here and there, especially in the chorus. While all the songs stand on their own, "Say You'll Say" seems to have the most memorable chorus, gentle melody, and outstanding harmonies. A tale of faith, via a modern-day parable of sorts comes to us in "Ocean," followed by the worshipful "Daddy." Finally, "Walking Home" is a spoken word poem about the Prodigal Son set to acoustic and electric guitar, with some interesting vocal effects, and even the sound of helicopters that seem to fly right by.
A slight departure from his full band, Michelangelo shows his chops, and strives toward continued musical creativity.
