Before listening, you will need to get on "Reeb time and speed." Be prepared to downshift, to slow down, to focus because this music demands it. You will be rewarded, transported to an autumn world all his own. Your favorite place will be on "Oxford Street," a familiar, foggy avenue of memories. You will be introduced to people who changed his life and you will be transformed, too. You might find out that "June" is your favorite month, as well.
Reeb is an independent musician from Chicago. He recorded this EP at home on his Tascam reel to reel over the past few months. The sound quality is wonderful throughout, very thoughtful and warm. This is all Mike Reeb-guitars, vocals, percussion. It would be easy (for myself, at least) to overindulge himself. Far from it. The seven tracks are sparse, barebones folk, wide open with simple construction.
Collections like this are very special. They are demanding and time consuming, but ultimately the reward is ours.
