With so many releases coming out of Sweden in the last 8 years, there is a style that enough have in common that we could call it the Swedish sound - melodic metal with polished vocals and big hooks. This album has the sound, complete with some heavy and biting guitars.
My first few listens picked up most of the shortcomings - sometimes weak vocal lines and a reliance on the 80's metal formula; but subsequent listens let the hooks dig in and capture my attention.
"The Healing Touch" has tapped into a great lyrical approach that, I believe, could be used in a prophetic/authoritative way. The chorus has gang vocals that say, "Receive, receive, receive your healing touch." Just imagine if an audience member coupled that invitation with a faithful expectation and God decided to move!?!
All the lyrics here live up to the album's title. The Truth is in your face. Every song deals directly with Who Jesus is and what He offers in peace, comfort and strength.
The band is commended for the courage to dive headfirst into a soulful blues number ("Your Love Is True") that's an authentic attempt at the genre.
Overall, we have a decent album here made especially for the fan of commercial/melodic metal.
