    Metal-Core on Take Hold Records.

I have been hearing about Narcissus for awhile now but this CD was my first real listen. My initial playing of the CD took place through the headphones in the computer lab at my school and I immediately had trouble sitting still (yeah I got some strange looks).

Narcissus plays a sort of Metal-Core but add a mix of singsong vocals in addition to the screaming. It's a great hodgepodge that mildly reminds me of Poison the Well. "Newwave Techno Homicide" was produced by Nick Rotundo who has also worked with several other notable bands (Huntingtons etc).

The first song to capture my ear was "Octus Falure" which is one of the first on the disc. With solid drums, sharp driving guitars and the combination screams/singsong vocals, the result is a really catchy song that has some strong lyrics to keep me singing along. The songs that follow are no less imaginative. The song structure isn't a cheap carbon copy of some other band, but takes a stride to incorporate several other sounds, which makes for a great listen. As the CD progresses, you don't find yourself wondering why each song sounds the same as the last, because each one is fresh and could stand-alone. I liked the layout and artwork, which kind of pulls everything together. I can't wait to catch these guys live because after listening to this I'm sure they put a great show.

Each time I listen to it I like it a little more. Definitely get this at some point or run the risk of missing out on some good music.
