Who would have thought that four very different music tastes could all be met by one artist? Nichole Nordeman's new CD, This Mystery, has managed to do just that. The CD is being played over and over again in the CD player in my apartment with the volume cranked up high. All three of my roommates have commented on how much they like Nordeman's music and lyrics.

The opening song on the CD, 'This Mystery,' blasts you with a powerful piano and sets the music flowing through your veins. Nichole's voice reminds me of a mix between Jennifer Knapp and Point of Grace. There are times when you would think you were surely listening to one of these other well known artists/groups, but for the most part she simply has a very soothing voice that combines the strong vocals of Jennifer Knapp with the pop style of Point of Grace. And she sings all of her songs against a very strong piano which just bathes you with its powerful voice. The lyrics are also very strong and speak to the heart. They deal with real questions of faith and life.

Nichole is a relatively new artist as this is only her second release. She made a big hit with her debut album, Wide Eyed. In the last year, she has done more than 90 concerts, had four top 20 songs including two debut #1's, and was nominated for the Dove Award for New Artist of the Year. This year she has been nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year by GMA. She is a rising artist making friends everywhere she goes with her intelligent wit and authentic, sincere personality.

Anyone in the mood for some soothing and powerful music that speaks to your soul needs to get a hold of This Mystery on May 23, 2000 when it reaches the street. It is a CD that you will find yourself playing again and again to feel the piano move you and hear the message sewn into the music. It's a CD for anyone who needs to some time to relax and get lost in some music!
