I'm Your Child

You may remember Nina Llopis as the bassist/vocalist for the 80s punk band, The Lead. After The Lead disbanded in 1991, Nina entered the next phase of her musical endeavors by starting a solo career with her band, Out of Egypt. Nina says that with The Lead, she was heavily involved in evangelism, but her solo efforts allow her to incorporate worship into her songs. I'm Your Child does in fact reflect a more mature artist. Her message is straightforward, with the music on I'm Your Child communicating Christ and his love in a personal way. Lyrically, the songs are simple but meaningful, an intimate expression of Nina's feelings. Many of the ten cuts on the project serve as an encouragement to believers. "I Won't Be Afraid," and "No Tears," talk about the comfort and hope found in the Lord, while the title track is a prayer that cries out to God. Nina's sound and musical style are reminiscent of female rockers such as Julianna Hatfield, Joan Osborne, and Sheryl Crow, yet I'm Your Child has more variety and emotion than comparable releases. Nina's presentation validates the authenticity of the Gospel message and the whole package drives it home with dynamic rock arrangements.
