The color brown may be defined as a combination of red, black and yellow. But Brown, the latest release from P.O.D. is much more striking than that. The album displays a number of pictures through songs that are more complex than mere "paint by numbers" sketches. P.O.D. addresses current issues, but their bottom line is always leading people to the cross of Christ. "Full Color," Sandoval's testimony, was written about his mother's death from leukemia at age 36. While she lay on her deathbed, Sonny was faced with a choice, and the day she died, he gave his life to the Lord. He recounts part of the story in the hard-hitting lyrics: Why 'O why did my mommy have to die/ Too many questions, no answers confuses my mind/ Like what did I do, what did she do/ Who's to blame... Brown is primarily rap-core, but the band supplements its groove-oriented sound with hard core, Latin jazz and reggae. Listeners who identify with the sound of Rage Against The Machine or Six Feet Deep will want to check out P.O.D.
