None More Black is a four-piece punk band from Philadelphia and features former Kid Dynamite frontman Jason Shevchuk on vocals. "File Under Black" is their debut release and it came out on Fat Wreck Chords. It was by Nick Rotundo and recorded at his legendary Delaware studio, Clay Creek. (Huntingtons, One21, Boy Sets Fire, Paint it Black, etc.)
It is pretty difficult not to compare NMB to Kid Dynamite and this reviewer will not apologize for doing so. For one, Jason Shevchuk's vox are quite distinctive and unique. So vocally, NMB sounds just like Kid Dynamite. Lyrically, the fare is similar as well. NMB makes use of short phrases and one-word sentences to convey ideas about everything from interpersonal relationships to politics. As far as the rest of the music goes, NMB is like Kid Dynamite on half or three-quarters speed. "FUB" is completely catchy, sometimes poppy, hardcore punk. It does not quite capture the life and vigor that was Kid Dynamite, but NMB is certainly a passable substitute. "FUB" is a fine album, one that any punk fan would enjoy.
