Bitter Shovel is the album Creed might have produced if they hadn't gone commercial. Outspoken offers 12 tracks that lie somewhere in between modern rock (especially in the vocals) and heavy pop. At some times the song construction can be a little too pop. "Loose End" is the type of song that could easily be performed by (shudder) 'N Sync. But Outspoken's heavy guitars and drums, tweaks, jerks and grooves tell you they are a serious band.
Highlights of the album include "Revolving" and their first single, "Farther," both of which have a bit of a Galactic Cowboys, The Horse That Bud Bought vibe. "Now" is a brilliant high-energy harmonic effort with noticeable Tool influences in the bridge, while "Feel This" is the most memorable song on the album, thanks to its high guitar groove and intense buildup.

Some listeners will think Outspoken sounds just like everybody else. Maybe they are making the same style of music as every other modern rock band, but they're also making better music.
