Let me just start out by saying Twoseventeen by Pax 217 is an amazing disk. This California based four piece rap/reggae core packs this album with a lot of flavor. Pax brings a ton of genres together to make something really cool. It has some hip-hop, electronic hardcore (no yelling might I add), and ska influenced reggae. With blistering musical front, Pax 217 hits a big one with this cd.
Let me pick this one apart starting with the bass lines. They sound true and vibrant, and the drums are amazing with hints of Limp Bizkit. The guitars are awesome and set off the tone for Pax 217's music assault. They are thick and hard and change into a ska/reggae upbeat.
This Forefront disk is not my average rap-core album but grasps a more down to earth sound. These guys also sound identical to 311 in their music and high vocals. Pax 217 is also a very good live act. I recently saw them live with MG! The Visionary, KJ52, and Beanbag. I loved the band so much I paid twenty bucks for a hat. The lyrics on this album are thought provoking and inspiring. My favorite tracks are "A.M." and "Shalom". "A.M." is a more rap-core like 311(early), and "Shalom" speaks a ton of biblical truth and gives hope to Christians who are takin serious licks from Satan. On a scale from 1-10 I gave this one an 8.
The band will also be featured in the motion picture Extreme Days and will have tunes from Twoseventeen on the movie's soundtrack. It also has a never released track which I heard live. If I were you I would get this disk and jam. If you could listen to this one and not move you better check your pulse. I am sure you will enjoy this one, so go out and get it NOW.
8/10

HM Magazine #82Reviewed by Doug Van PeltIt's a great feeling to watch a band work it like crazy for years, develop, and then release a debut album as good as this. It almost makes you feel like a parent. PAX217 (fka just as Pax) has been playing in Southern California for years, and has been on the brink of being signed for a long time. Now they are coming out of the starting blocks with a sound that rivals 311. For some young lads,…
ReAL Magazine 2000Reviewed by Dean M.Intense and electric are two words that come to mind when trying to describe the music of PAX217 and their new album Twoseventeen. I didn't know what to expect when I opened the case, the only thing I knew about this group was that they were Forefront Record's newest member. When the first song 'A.M.' began to blare through my two speakers with crunching guitars and intense, Rage Against the…Similar sounding releases
