Pinewood Derby and Fightshy split a 6 song EP called Friends of Ours, and put it out on Line Red Productions. The first three songs -- by Derby of course -- are in the realm of A Minor Forest and Modest Mouse type stuff, except with pining vocals and more straightforward, simple rock riffs. Fightshy's three contributions are similar, but with a heavy focus on timing, string staccato, shimmering high hat, and minor breakdowns. Striking, pervasive -- dare I say wonderful -- drum work, to be sure. Both bands can be captivating in that emotive indie-rock way.
