The first comparison that pops in my mind is Danzig. The dark, down-tuned Black Sabbath-esque guitars, the mournful wailing vocals and the plod-along pace are paramount. Yep, definitely a Danzig comparison. The only thing is, except for a few exceptions, the songs on Healing sound a bit two-dimensional and monotonous the majority of the time.

The word to use on Healing is brooding. Very dark reflections on fallen human nature and the need for salvation. Sunshine and happy rainbows? Not here, pal. That suits this writer just fine, thanks. Themes that touch on fallen natures ("Fallen", "My Lies"), depression ("Seeds Of Sorrow", "On My Knees"), spiritual attack ("When I Let You In", "D.O.P.", "Demons") drug abuse ("Hooked", "Never Enough") and spiritual healing ("Healing") make up the majority on the CD. File this under the heading Social Commentary rather than Euphoric Edification. If there is an underlying theme here, it's that we need to take a truthful account of the problem before we can allow GOD to heal the wounds.

For those who like their metal dark, Rose's Healing is for you. . .

Heaven's Metal #40Reviewed by Doug Van PeltThis album is a low-end monster waiting to chew your head off. Fans of the screaming tube sound of early Black Sabbath will scream for joy when you feast your ears on this. The last Rose project left a lot to be desired, in my opinion. It was such a clone of Danzig and the tunes just didn't have a groove as big or bigger than the vocals. This album is a full-on blitzkrieg assault that hard…The Lighthouse February 1993Reviewed by Beth BlinnHealing is the second project of (Randy) Rose, one half of the critically acclaimed brotherly duo of Mad At The World. Rose explores more of a grunge rock sound, as opposed to the more modern rock that he and brother Roger pursue as the aforementioned group. This album is something of a downer--musically and lyrically. It explores some of the darker aspects of being human and being a Christian,…
