If Dallas (formerly of UnderOath), Radiohead, the Mars Volta, and Viva Voce all got together at Billy Corgan's house to eat oysters and sniff glue, the resulting music would probably sound a lot like Sabrosa Purr.
This album has a very sensual feel. This is making out music folks. At least that's what you start out thinking. The first few songs grind and certainly can get your rump shaking. Then something mysterious happens. Out of nowhere comes this guttural, serpentine, death scream. It's alarming at first but absolutely the most understandable and intelligible hardcore style scream I have ever heard. This is really something to hear.
The band is a mystery to me. I kind of like it that way. They came out of nowhere and knocked me musically on my ear and I really got to the point where I enjoyed it. This record is an experience. The songs actually go somewhere in a style where it would be very easy for the songs to fall flat without any substance. A few rocking tracks are mixed with more down tempo number creating great dynamics for the album. There are a few instances of questionable lyrics, which for some might be offensive. With everything from dream pop to a bit of screamo/emocore this album has a lot to offer and is a solid, though short listen. Check it out if you like your music eclectic.
