Ahh, the Few is back. This release finds the band as tight as ever and taking a mature, more relaxed vocal approach. It's my favorite of all the Scaterd Few material.
One listen to "Dreams" and you'll see the diverse personality of the band. There's some killer atmospheric leads that get quirky during the solo, cool 'n' funky percussion, and esoteric BGV's on the chorus. The best cut is probably "Pinnacle," which jams out, breaks down, quotes Scripture, and does it all again, shifting moods like gears in a fine-tuned car.
The band, both musically and lyrically, want to stretch the imagination of its listeners. The storylines and inside emotions are never quite crystallized into simple statements or blunt proclamations. For a trip into the weirdness, strap on a pair of headphones and dive into the lyric sheet here. The music almost becomes a psychedelic landscape of melody, progressive textures and slammin' grooves. The sonics are very good, never distracting from the sounds and allowing the songs to breathe.
