If you are looking for big technical guitar work drowned with riffs that blow your mind, you will probably be a little disappointed with Spark's Tomorrow is Today. At today's ridiculous prices, it is either going to wind up collecting dust like your old Milli Vanilli CD strategically hidden (we know you still have it -- haha), or you will end up selling it to some 'mom and pop' used CD store at a quarter of the price, if you're lucky. However if you're satisfied with radio-friendly, catchy rhythms solely driven by the lyrical content of being enlightened by our Lord and savior, this album is tailor made for you!
While I enjoyed the aggressive melodies and long ranges of frontman Dave Trustcott, up and down throughout the album I was struggling to find just one track that stuck out on its own musically -- they have an uncanny way of sounding like almost any band out there on mainstream radio. Though, at times, they do take those similarities and add in just enough of their own sound, leaving you wondering.
Lyrically these guys have captured all the emotions of what it is like to know God. Almost every Christian can identify with songs like "All It Really Is" -- "I thought so hard to be a Christian/I thought so easy to let go/I only put you in my spare time/Now you're the only thing I know." Spark has the tools. Once they blend their spiritually emotional lyrics with a sound of their own, we might just see them invading the Billboard 200.
