Stutterfly wants you to think they're metal, alternative and post hardcore. They want you to think that they're outside mainstream rock and that they have a very original sound. However, after one listens to And We Are Bled of Color, one realizes that none of this is true. Elements of these three aspects are found within the release, but Stutterfly ultimately falls under the same genre the music on Xtreme radio; Nu-metal mixed with punk and hardcore elements. Stutterfly sounds as if someone put TRUST Company and Atreyu in a blender and mixed them up by having the falsetto of TRUST Company and the screams and whines of Atreyu.
Although there are a few interesting melodies, the album gets rather monotonous after "Gun In Hand," (track 3) and does not become any more interesting until the last two songs, "Life's Disease," and "Flames Adorn the Silence," perspectively. "Life's Disease" is the only ballad, and comes as a nice change after eleven tracks of power chords. "Flames Adorn the Silence," and "Gun In Hand," do not contain anything that different from the rest of the album, but all the elements are at their best in these songs.
If Stutterfly used a few breakdowns, slowed things down somewhat, and stopped whining, And We Are Bled of Color could be a much more listenable release, but instead it's mediocre.
