With the latest crop of bands along the lines of Taking Back Sunday, Finch, Mae, and the changing face of Underoath, aggressive emotionally-driven music is a popular, yet confusing (to those outside of its listenership) "art form." It must be performed on a tightly-bound platform, or the result will be an undesirable, choppy feel.
At first listen, this CD isn't appealing, but upon subsequent spins, it shows potential for being aggressive emo. Not choppy, the project begins with the radio single, "Emotion," with an aggressive attack on emotive guitars, and then moves into the angst-ridden song, "Game of Love." The rest of the CD has a decent mix of edgy and aggressive emo.
It is important to note that this disc is an EP--it goes by quickly--and that the appeal of this CD is mostly for fans of some of the more modern emotional music, which means that this probably wouldn't appeal to classic rock, hard/extreme, hip-hop, or country music fans very much. This project is good, for someone who may like aggressive emo; otherwise, proceed with caution.
